Booster pump and tank beside the house - Pump Repair Services, Orlando FL

When you have plenty of water, but the pressure fades on the second floor or at the far end of the property, a booster pump is often the honest fix. Around Central Florida, we see this most in two-story homes and on properties with a long run from the well to a barn, a guest house, or an outbuilding. A booster adds pressure to a system that already has flow, and installed right, it makes a weak shower feel like a real one.

The catch is that not every low-pressure complaint is a booster problem. We diagnose the whole system first, because the cheaper fix is often a waterlogged tank, an undersized pump, or a half-closed valve. When a booster is genuinely the answer, we size and install it right and quote the whole job after an on-site diagnosis.

When a booster pump is actually the right fix

Three situations where a booster earns its keep, and one where it does not

A booster pump solves a specific problem: enough water, not enough pressure. Knowing whether that is really your problem is the whole game, because a booster on the wrong system just pressurizes an existing fault.

01

Weak pressure upstairs in a two-story home

This is the classic booster case. The ground floor is fine, but the master bath upstairs trickles because the pressure runs out before it climbs the last ten feet. Every story you add costs pressure, and a well pump sized for the ground floor often cannot make up the difference. A properly sized booster restores steady pressure to the upper floor without touching the well pump, so the upstairs shower finally feels like the one downstairs.

02

A long run to a barn, guest house, or far fixture

On acreage, the pressure that leaves the tank strong arrives tired at a barn or outbuilding hundreds of feet away. A booster placed on that run brings the far end back up to a usable pressure, so the pasture spigot and the guest bath work like the main house.

03

When it is NOT a booster you need

Just as often, low pressure is not a booster problem at all. A waterlogged pressure tank, an undersized or worn pump, or a partly closed valve will all feel like weak pressure, and bolting a booster onto any of those wastes your money and hides the real fault. We check those first, every time, and tell you honestly when the fix is smaller than a new pump.

For most homes here, a properly sized booster is the answer. We do not install new constant-pressure and variable-speed (VFD) systems because, in our experience, they cost more and fail more often in Central Florida conditions. A well-matched booster does the job with fewer things to go wrong. That said, if you already have a constant-pressure or variable-speed system, we do service and repair it.

Signs a booster pump might be your answer

Consider a booster when you see:

  • Good pressure downstairs but weak flow on the second floor
  • Pressure that fades at fixtures far from the well or tank
  • A shower that drops off when another tap or the sprinklers run
  • An existing booster that is noisy, cycling, or no longer holding pressure

How a booster job goes

Diagnosed first, boosted only if it is the right call

01

We find out where the pressure is really lost

Call (407) 809-8805 and we respond immediately. The first job is to prove whether you have a flow problem or a pressure problem, because only one of them calls for a booster.

02

On-site system check

We test the tank charge, the pump, the switch, and the pressure at the trouble spots, so a half-closed valve or a tired tank does not get misdiagnosed as a booster job.

03

Right-sized recommendation

If a booster is the answer, we size it to your home and the pressure you actually need. If it is not, we tell you the smaller fix instead.

04

One all-in quote

You get the full price before any work starts, with no add-ons. Whether it is a booster install or a simpler repair, the number holds.

05

Install, set, and verify

We install and set the booster, then check pressure at the failing fixtures so you feel the difference before we leave.

How pricing works

One quote, after we prove a booster is the right fix

We will not sell you a booster over the phone, because half of low-pressure calls turn out to be a tank, a valve, or a pump rather than a pressure problem. We diagnose first, then give you one all-in price for whatever actually fixes it, a booster installation or a smaller repair. The number includes the sizing and the setup, holds from start to finish, and never grows with add-ons.

Booster pump FAQ

Questions we hear about booster pumps

Emergency call
(407) 809-8805
01 Do I actually need a booster pump?

Only if you have good water flow but not enough pressure. If the flow itself is weak, the problem is usually the pump, the tank, or a valve, and a booster bolted onto any of those just pressurizes the fault instead of fixing it. We diagnose the whole system first and tell you plainly which one you are dealing with, because we would rather do the smaller repair than sell you the bigger one.

02 Why is my upstairs pressure so weak?

In a two-story home, the pressure often runs out before it reaches the top floor, especially when another fixture or the sprinklers are running. A right-sized booster is the common fix, once we rule out a waterlogged tank or a tired pump.

03 Booster pump or constant-pressure system, which is better?

For most homes here, a properly sized booster.

04 Can a booster help pressure at a barn or guest house far from the well?

Yes. A long run bleeds pressure, and a booster placed on that line brings the far end back up to a usable level.

05 What brands of booster do you install?

Pentair and Goulds, sized to the pressure your home needs.

06 My booster is noisy or keeps cycling. What is wrong?

Usually, the pressure sensor or the bearings. Both are common booster faults, and catching them early keeps a small repair from becoming a replacement.

07 Will a booster fix low pressure caused by old pipes?

Not really. A booster changes pump-side pressure. If the restriction is old, corroded pipe, that is a plumbing issue a booster cannot cure, and we will tell you so rather than sell you the wrong fix.

08 Can you boost pressure for a home on city water, not a well?

Yes. City-water homes with weak pressure can benefit from a booster the same way well homes do, once we confirm the low pressure is not something the utility should address.

09 How long does a booster install take?

Most are completed in the same visit, because the pumps and parts are on the truck.

10 How much pressure will a booster actually add?

Enough to make the failing fixtures usable, which is what we size it for. Rather than chase a number on a gauge, we set the booster to deliver steady pressure at the upstairs bath or the far spigot that was failing, then test it there before we leave so you feel the result.

11 Is a booster loud, and where does it go?

A well-matched booster runs quietly and installs on the pressure line, often near the tank or the trouble area. If your current one has gotten loud, that is usually the bearings or the sensor talking, and it is worth a look before it quits.

12 Why is there no flat price for a booster?

Because the right job might be a booster or might be a simpler repair, and the size of the booster depends on your home. You get one all-in price after we diagnose it.
